With the coming of Spring, the valley transforms almost overnight into a flourishing oasis of foliage. Rolling green hills frame freshly budding vineyards and flowering orchards.
At the center of the vernal valley is HvH Specialty Growers, a flower farm that hosts an annual tulip pull-up event. This event has become more popular than ever and the owners, Lisa and Ron, have helped put Suisun Valley on the map with their beautiful and charming farm. Let's take a virtual tour of HvH Specialty Growers' Tulip Pull-up event.

There are several varieties of tulips at HvH Specialty Growers
From pink to white, and yellow and purple, HvH Specialty Growers plants around 20 varieties of tulip bulbs each Fall that bloom in the late Winter and early Spring. Come late Winter, HvH Specialty Growers opens their beautiful farm to the public. During tulip season the farm brims with a beautiful rainbow of colors.

The tulip pull-up event is hosted annually from late February to mid-March
Tulip season is short-lived, but worthwhile. The farm is an absolutely stunning sight to behold and is a must-see attraction in Suisun Valley. HvH Specialty Growers officially opens for the season in late February and they host the tulip pull-up Fridays-Sundays until mid to late March.

HvH Specialty Growers tulip pull-up is a very fun & interactive experience
Aside from breathtaking tulips and picturesque views, the annual tulip pull-up is a lot of fun! By reserving a ticket, you are allowed to pick a dozen tulips of your choice right out of the ground. Ron is usually onsite and will instruct you with the tulip picking process. After you pick a dozen tulips (and take several photos along the way) Ron will wrap up your tulips and give you aftercare tips to make the most of your tulip selection.

You don't just get to pick tulips, but you get to plant them in your own home garden
Picking tulips at HvH Specialty Growers is lots of fun, but the fun doesn't stop there. Each tulip you pick at HvH will have its bulb attached to it, meaning you can plant the bulbs in your own yard and enjoy tulips year after year! Ron and Lisa are tulip experts and they provide instructions for planting your tulip bulbs at home. Make sure you follow their tulip aftercare advice to ensure your tulip bulbs are ready to plant in the Fall.

This event becomes more popular each year
And for good reason! Tulips are some of the most beautiful flowers and each year HvH Specialty Growers plants more and more. When the event first started, the tulip farm was on a smaller scale and attendance was so sparse you could walk in during farm hours, pick a bunch of tulips and basically have the farm to yourself. Fast forward to today and you'll see huge crowds, a packed parking lot, food vendors and professional photographers. The farm has been on the news several times and it has really become a spectacle that people from all over the greater Bay Area have grown to love. It's certainly a worthwhile experience and if you haven't visited yet, make sure to check it out because it is only going to continue to be more and more popular!

Happy Spring!
